Lot 7: Baroness Staffordshire Hand Painted China Oval Fruit Platter Signed A. Mellor
This oval ceramic platter is produced by Baroness Hand Painted China, manufactured by Staffordshire Craftsmen in the United Kingdom. The central well features a detailed hand-painted still-life study of fruit, including apples, peaches, clusters of purple grapes, cherries, and blackberries, set against a mottled, impressionistic background of earthy and pastel tones. The painting is signed A. Mellor to the lower right of the composition. The platter is of an oval form with a scalloped edge and a gilded rim. The platter is in generally good condition. There is a visible surface scratch or graze to the lower-centre foreground of the painted decoration.
