Lot 20: 1864 UK Victoria Silver Shilling, Die Number 14
A UK silver one shilling coin dated 1864. The obverse features the Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, with the legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:. The reverse displays the denomination ONE SHILLING in two lines beneath a crown, enclosed by a tied wreath of oak and olive branches. The date 1864 is located at the base, with a small incised die number 14 visible directly above it. Struck in sterling silver. The year 1864 represents the first year that die numbers were incorporated into the reverse design of this denomination.

Condition report:
Circulated. The coin shows significant wear with flattened details on the portrait, hair, and the high points of the crown and wreath. Both faces exhibit heavy dark toning and surface grime within the recessed areas. The edge remains intact with minor contact marks consistent with age and use.
