Lot 3: Australia 2015 Great Hammerhead Shark .999 Silver 50 Cent Coin
An Australian bullion coin, struck in one-half troy ounce of .999 fine silver with a face value of 50 cents. The obverse features the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, with legible inscriptions reading ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 50 CENTS, and the designer’s initials IRB at the base of the neck. The reverse depicts a curved hammerhead shark against a circular textured field. Legend transcribed as GREAT HAMMERHEAD SHARK, 2015 1/2 oz 999 SILVER, and the designer’s initials NM near the tail fin. The coin is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule.

Condition report:
The coin shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. The obverse exhibits significant dark, mottled toning and oxidation across the fields and raised design elements (photo 2). The reverse shows similar heavy environmental toning and oxidation across the fields and design (photo 1). The coin is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule, which exhibits light surface scuffing and scratches (photos 1 and 2).
