A 1836 William IV silver Half Crown coin. The obverse features a bare head portrait of King William IV facing right, encircled by the legible legend GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D: The reverse displays a crowned and mantled shield of arms, quarterly of England, Scotland, and Ireland, with the arms of Hanover placed upon an escutcheon. The shield is surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Garter, with a George and Dragon pendant visible at the base, and the legible legend ANNO 1836 below. The coin features a reeded edge. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of heavy circulation wear and surface damage. The obverse displays a prominent X-shaped scratch across the monarch\'s cheek, alongside significant wear to the hair and facial features and numerous fine contact marks across the fields. The reverse shows heavy wear to the high points of the crown and shield, with dark toning present within the recesses of the mantling and legends. No protective capsule or original packaging is supplied.
