Lot 6: Baird & Co. London Peregrine Falcon .9999 Fine Silver One Ounce Round
A silver bullion round struck in .9999 fine silver. The obverse features a frosted relief of a peregrine falcon in flight, wings and talons spread, against a polished field. Struck inscriptions on the obverse read THE PEREGRINE FALCON and ONE OUNCE .9999 FINE SILVER in serif capitals. The reverse features the maker’s mark BAIRD & CO. in a blackletter script, positioned above the words BULLION MERCHANTS and LONDON. The inscription ONE OUNCE .9999 FINE SILVER is repeated in serif capitals along the top edge of the reverse. Six small circular indentations are struck into the lower peripheral border.

Condition report:
The round shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. The obverse fields and frosted relief exhibit numerous fine surface scratches and scuffs (photo 1). Toning and oxidation are present within the recessed lettering and around the peripheral rim. The reverse surfaces show similar fine scratches and scuffs throughout the central field and within the lettering (photo 2). Darkening is visible around the peripheral edges and the indented marks. The round is not supplied with a protective capsule or original packaging.
