Not every auction house wants a workshop full of tools, but we do. Sheffield is a city built on steel and engineering, and tools, industrial equipment and vintage machinery have been part of Clumber’s fortnightly sales from the start. They attract a loyal following of tradespeople, restorers, collectors of old hand tools and buyers kitting out a workshop at a fraction of retail price.
We sell everything from a single box of Record planes to complete workshop and garage clearances. Lots are viewable at the saleroom on weekdays 09:30 to 15:00 before each Wednesday sale, and bulky items can be collected on Thursday and Friday between 10:00 and 15:00 afterwards.
- Hand tools — Planes, chisels, saws, spanners, Sheffield-made edge tools and cabinet-makers’ tools, including collectable names such as Stanley, Record and Marples.
- Power tools and machinery — Lathes, pillar drills, bandsaws, bench grinders, compressors and welders.
- Engineering equipment — Micrometers, gauges, vices, anvils and measuring instruments.
- Garage and automotive — Jacks, tool chests, workshop manuals and vintage motoring accessories.
- Industrial salvage — Factory lighting, stools, trolleys, signs and pieces sought for interiors.
We also clear garages, workshops, containers and storage units. Buyer’s premium is 18% of the hammer price; seller’s commission is 18% plus a £2.00 lotting fee per lot. Sell with us or ask about a clearance.
